Why Supergirl’s Chyler Leigh Isn’t Ready To Leave The Arrowverse After The Series Finale

Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers/Sentinel in Supergirl.

Now that Supergirl is back after its hiatus, the series is getting down to the wire and only has a handful of episodes left. Even though this will be the end of Team Supergirl on TV, the Arrowverse can still have its National City heroes in the form of crossovers, starting with a Flash event in the fall that will include Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers/Sentinel, and the actress weighed in on why she isn't ready to say goodbye just yet.

The Flash’s upcoming eighth season will begin with a five-part special event, which will be a crossover called “Armageddon.” The event will feature appearances from multiple Arrowverse superheroes, including Sentinel. Chyler Leigh admitted to The Wrap that after wrapping Supergirl, she just wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to Alex:

What I will say is I am very, very, very grateful to be part of it. I was asked if I was interested, and if I wanted to, you know, take part and I was like, ‘Uhhh, hell yeah.’ I knew I wasn’t quite done with Alex or Sentinel. I just had that feeling, you know? Along the way, I was like ‘I’m just not … I’m not ready yet!'

There currently isn’t too much known about it, just that Team Flash will be calling in for reinforcements after there’s a big alien threat to Earth. Other heroes include Ray Palmer/The Atom, Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, Ryan Wilder/Batwoman, Mia Smoak/Green Arrow and Ryan Choi. Reverse-Flash and Damien Darhk will also be making returns. While Chyler Leigh doesn’t know much about the plot of the crossover, fans have every reason to be excited about what's in store for Alex:

Last I spoke with Eric [Wallace], their showrunner, Alex does get to have a really, pretty special part of the event.

It will be interesting to see just what part Alex plays in the event and it will be nice to see her shine in the crossover. The event will also be an emotional one, since many of the Arrowverse heroes included will be from shows that are no longer airing, or they exited their series, like Tom Cavanagh and Brandon Routh. However, this will mark Batwoman star Javicia Leslie's first crossover since being cast as the Gotham hero. Just how the others will welcome her officially will definitely be something to look forward to.

Supergirl still has a couple of months to go before the series comes to an end, so there is no telling just how Alex’s story will either end or continue into the crossover. Though whatever happens, fans will just be happy to know that they will be seeing Alex once again. Hopefully this won’t be the last time she’s seen in the Arrowverse. If John Diggle can do it, why can’t she?
