Star Wars: Boba Fett’s 8 Best Moments Ahead Of His Disney+ Series

Jeremy Bulloch in Return of the Jedi

Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Han Solo. Those are all some of the best characters ever introduced to the Star Wars galaxy, but none compare to the absolute powerhouse of a badass that is Boba Fett. Over the years, we have watched the iconic character go from a young clone of Jango Fett to the most feared bounty hunter in several systems, to a rugged yet still capable fighter who wants nothing more than his armor back. And with the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett not all that far off, now seems like as good a time as any to look back on the bounty hunter’s best moments.

Below are just eight of the countless examples of why Boba Fett is not only the best bounty hunter ever introduced in Star Wars but one of the best characters, period. These examples are from multiple times and places in the character’s journey, but each is as equally awesome as the rest. Let’s jump into the list like it’s a sarlacc pit on Tatooine.

Boba Fett’s Introduction In Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Sure, Boba Fett showed up in the Star Wars Holiday Special (not to mention a parade), for many, the first time they saw the iconic bounty hunter was in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. Everything about the scene where Darth Vader brings in a collection of unique bounty hunters is amazing, but the one who takes the cake is Fett. Besides the fact that he’s the only mercenary to say a word (Bossk just kind of grunts and growls), the scene leads the audience to believe Fett and Vader have a history when the Sith lord points at Fett and says “no disintegration” before walking away. Which one of Vader’s targets got turned to a pile of ash at the hand of Fett in the past?

Boba Fett Hides In Space Trash To Track The Millennium Falcon

One of the reasons Boba Fett is at the top tier of Star Wars characters, at least in the original trilogy, is the fact the audience doesn’t know all that much about him even though he’s a major player in The Empire Strikes Back and the beginning of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. Instead of telling the audience Fett is a badass, it is just shown in a few brief scenes. One of those is in The Empire Strikes Back when Han Solo thinks he can escape an Imperial Star Destroyer by hiding the Millennium Falcon in space trash. But guess who’s there not far behind that nerf herder? Yep, Bob Fett. Like with Vader, this scene shows us that the bounty hunter has a history with Solo and knows all his tricks.

Boba Fett Fights Luke, Han And Chewbacca On Jabba The Hutt’s Barge

Boba Fett meets an untimely death (or does he?) in the opening act of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi when a blinded Han Solo causes the bounty hunter’s jetpack to fire off, sending the merc flying into Jabba the Hutt’s party barge before falling into the sarlacc pit. But let’s rewind for a moment and break down why this is such a great scene. After pretty much standing around looking like the badass that he is for parts of two movies, Boba Fett finally gets to fly around and shoot stuff while fighting Han, Chewbacca, and Luke Skywalker. And even though he “died” we all know this isn’t the end of Boba Fett.

Boba Fett, A Clone, Attacks Obi-Wan Kenobi In Attack Of The Clones

No one is going to make a claim that Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones is the best of the prequel trilogy (or any trilogy for that matter), but the 2002 epic space opera does introduce a younger version of Boba Fett, who is revealed to be an unmodified clone of Jango Fett (he wears blue and silver armor instead of green). And even though the young clone doesn’t have much to do in the movie, when he is on screen, he makes the most of it, especially when his dad is fighting Obi-Wan Kenobi on Kamino. This includes not only firing Slave I’s cannons at the Jedi, saving his dad, but also flying the ship himself as Jango climbs aboard in the middle of a never-ending rainstorm. Talk about bonding time with the old man.

Boba Fett Tries To Get Revenge Against Mace Windu On The Clone Wars

As you may remember, Mace Windu unceremoniously kills Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones when he decapitates him in the final battle. Not one to let things go, Boba Fett attempts to avenge his father in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 2 episode “Death Trap” by taking out the Jedi master once and for all. Proving to be as resourceful and cunning and he is lethal (even at a young age), Fett poses as a clone cadet and sneaks aboard a Jedi cruiser. While onboard the ship, the young mercenary attempts to plant a bomb in his father’s killer’s quarters. The bomb goes off but instead of killing Windu, a clone trooper sets off the trap, which nearly takes out everyone on the cruiser.

Boba Fett Is Revealed To Be Alive On The Mandalorian

Just when everyone thought it would be impossible for The Mandalorian to get any better, the Season 2 premiere arrived and showed, once and for all, that Boba Fett lives! We didn’t get to see him in his armor at this point (though we didn’t have to wait all that long) but we did see the character return (looking all rugged and old) watching Mando during the binary sunset on Tatooine. Honestly, in a show with its fair share of badass scenes and even more badass reveals, this was one of the best.

Boba Fett Gets His Armor Back And Takes Out A Platoon Of Stormtroopers On The Mandalorian

About halfway through The Mandalorian Season 2, Star Wars fans got the moment they had been waiting on for a very long time: Boba Fett suited up once again and looked like the ultimate badass that he is in the process. All in all, the show’s fourth episode answered a ton of questions, including: What would happen if Boba Fett had to take on an entire platoon of stormtroopers. In case you were wondering he mopped the floor with them and then some. Seeing Fett in his Mandalorian armor (even though he’s not a Mandalorian) and showing that age can’t slow him down was honestly one of the best Star Wars moments of all time.

Boba Fett Takes Jabba The Hutt’s Throne On The Mandalorian

Man, The Mandalorian Season 2 finale certainly didn’t disappoint with one great moment after another, but since we’re talking about Boba Fett here, there is one scene and one scene only that needs to be discussed. After everything is said and done — the dark troopers are defeated, Baby Yoda leaves with Luke Skywalker, Mando is left in charge of the darksaber — Boba Fett and Fennec Shand go off to take care of some unfinished business. That business? Well, taking over Jabba the Hutt’s throne after killing Bib Fortuna. We’ll just have to see what the next chapter in The Book of Boba Fett.

The Book of Boba Fett is set to premiere on Disney+ at some point during the Fall 2021 TV schedule. But that won’t be all as there are other upcoming Star Wars movies and TV shows coming from the galaxy far, far away.
