Night Court was a sitcom that delivered a lot of laughs for fans over the years, but now the Night Court family has lost one of its own. Charles Robinson, known for playing court clerk Mac Robinson for nearly the full run of the series, has passed away at the age of 75.

Charles Robinson died on Monday, July 12 due to multi-system organ failure following septic shock and a type of glandular cancer called metastatic adenocarcinoma, according to Robinson's representative (via The Wrap). The actor and Night Court figure reportedly died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

The actor is undoubtedly best known for his work on Night Court as Mac, starting in Season 2 and remaining on board all the way through to the ninth and final season for nearly 200 episodes, from 1984 to 1992. That said, Charles Robinson has no shortage of credits to his name after a 50-year career that started all the way back in 1971 and continued all the way through to 2021, with a part in the mockumentary Senior Entourage as his most recent released credit before his passing on July 12. Previous to that, he appeared in 2020's movie Blindfire.

On the whole, however, Charles Robinson's strongest and undoubtedly most memorable legacy comes from his roles on television, including but not limited to his run on Night Court. He appeared in all four episodes of Love in the Time of Corona in 2020, a miniseries produced while much of the entertainment industry was still shut down and following characters looking for love while social distancing.

Charles Robinson also appeared in several episodes of Mom (which ended its run with Season 8 at the end of the 2020-2021 TV season), The Guest Book, Hart of Dixie, Home Improvement, and many more. He also appeared on How I Met Your Mother in 2006, for just one episode that nonetheless has lived on thanks to social media.

Although Night Court ended its original run back in 1992, the show is returning to television with a revival that will feature original series star John Larroquette. The return of Larroquette seemingly opened the door for fans to speculate about other members of the original cast appearing in the revival, which will also feature a Big Bang Theory alum.

While that's still possible with other stars, Charles Robinson's passing sadly means that Mac won't have a part to play. It would be touching if the revival pays tribute to Robinson's Mac, as well as Harry Anderson's Harry Stone. Anderson passed away in 2018 at the age of 65.

Following his death, Charles Robinson is survived by wife Dolorita, children Luca, Charlie, Christian, and Byron, daughters-in-law, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
