The end of Chicago Med Season 6 is fast-approaching, and it's already clear with just two episodes left that Med has plenty of twists left before heading into hiatus, and some of those twists will undoubtedly involve Will Halstead after he made a risky decision for Natalie just last week. Still, a surprising new clip for the next new episode (seen above) proves that Will can still look on the bright side, as he's hoping for another chance with Dr. Virani despite everything. But will he really get it?

In the sneak peek clip at the May 19 episode, called "Stories, Secrets, Half Truths And Lies," Will and Dr. Virani cross paths while heading for the elevator, and their conversation is a lot less chilly than the last time they shared a scene, in the aftermath of Will coming clean that he'd broken the rules of their clinical trial. After Will admits that he deserved Dr. Virani going hard on him and she reveals that the trial is approaching its final stages, he gets a sign that she's open to revisiting their personal relationship.

And all things considered, Will looks about as surprised as I felt that she might give him another chance after her initial reaction to him bending the rules! Sure, she'll only admit to a "slight chance," but there is a definite thaw, and Will's face positively lights up at the thought of getting another shot with her. The good Dr. Halstead is all but blushing at the idea of starting things up again. So, will Will indeed get another chance with Dr. Virani?

That may well depend on what happens in the ED after he agreed to continue supplying Natalie's mom with the Kender trial drugs on the sly. Dr. Virani may have been able to look past Will unblinding the study for one single case, but it's easy to imagine that Will's chance with her will be lost if she finds out about what he agreed to do for Natalie and her mother. And it's easy to imagine that things could start going sideways for Will, Natalie, and Carol in "Stories, Secrets, Half Truths And Lies" pretty quickly, perhaps with Dr. Virani still in the building.

While viewers will have to wait until Chicago Med's new episode on May 19 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC to find out for sure, the promo for "Stories, Secrets, Half Truths And Lies" confirms what seemed all but inevitable after things were going so well with Carol last week: Natalie's mom is going to get worse. Natalie is seemingly ready to take the blame for the situation since she stole the pills (and that would tie into Torrey DeVitto's upcoming departure), but Will's name could well be all over the situation.

Whether that would affect his shot at starting things up again with Dr. Virani remains to be seen; the more immediate concern might be Carol's health. Crockett seems likely to get involved, and it appears that things might have to get a lot worse before they get better... if they can get better at all without catastrophe. And would this really be one of the final episodes of a season of One Chicago action without the threat of catastrophe?

All signs point toward an intense and unexpected final pair of Chicago Med episodes before the final credits roll on Season 6 and hiatus begins. No matter what happens to Will, there are some big changes in store for the series. Be sure to check out the remaining episodes of Chicago Med Season 6 on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET, ahead of Chicago Fire at 9 p.m. and Chicago P.D. at 10 p.m. To relive some One Chicago days gone by, or just as a refresher as the finale approaches, you can find Med, Fire, and P.D. streaming on Peacock now!
