The Disney Channel is always at its best when it's putting out shows that win the hearts and minds of both younger viewers and their parents, from the more recent Mickey Mouse shorts to Gravity Falls to the Duck Tales reboot. The Owl House certainly taps into that same most-ages vein, at least for most people if not all, and while it the wait for Season 2 has been an arduous-ish one, fans can take comfort in knowing Disney has already put the pen to the paper to confirm that Season 3 is definitely happening. But with a rather noteworthy change in format.

The Owl House Season 2 is now set to make its highly anticipated debut on Disney Channel on Saturday, June 12, and fans can look forward to seeing new episodes airing through mid-August. But the House of Mouse has a different plan for Season 3, which will eschew the usual episodic format. Instead, the third season will be split into three different super-sized specials that will each run around 44 minutes.

While it's not clear why the decision was made to switch up how The Owl House's storytelling will be delivered in the future, I don't want to look a gift warlock in the mouth by wondering too hard, since it may be indicative of the show's impending end. Considering how smart, inventive, and packed with jokes and lore The Owl House is, it's no coincidence that creator Dana Terrace worked on both the aforementioned Gravity Falls and Duck Tales. But I don't want this show to end too soon like both of those did, so let's keep tuning in to make sure Disney knows we need more!

Lest anyone thing the shortened episode span is going to mean less excitement for Sarah-Nicole Robles' lovable Luz, Alex Hirsch's King or Wendie Malick's Eda, Disney Channel's Senior VP of Television Animation had the following to say:

Dana and her team have created a series that continues to push the envelope with epic and diverse storylines, an astounding world and multifaceted characters that have captivated our audience. We're eager to showcase more adventures in seasons two and three.

To get fans even more hyped up for Season 2, Disney released the new Season 2 opening titles sequence, which you can check out below!

While waiting to see all the other awesome shows hitting the 2021 Summer TV schedule, tell your demon doorknockers to remind you to watch The Owl House Season 2 when it arrives on Disney Channel on Saturday, June 12, at 10:00 a.m. ET, with episodes available the same day on DisneyNOW. The new season's guest star list includes Peter Gallagher (Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist), Felicia Day (The Guild), Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows), Nik Dodani (Atypical), Alex Lawther (The End of the F***ing World) and Debra Wilson (MADtv).
