How The CW Is Trying To Get Superman And Lois' Season Premiere As Many Viewers As Possible

Superman and Lois

The ever-expanding Arrowverse on The CW is about to get even bigger. The series premiere of the network's newest superhero series, Superman & Lois, is just weeks away and while many are excited about the return of Supergirl's Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) to The CW, that won't be the only place to find these characters.

While The CW’s ratings have made it the lowest-rated and least-watched on network TV, many of its shows remain steady despite being beaten out by bigger series. So in true Arrowverse fashion, The CW is taking a page from its own shared-universe shows and will be teaming up with sister networks TNT and TBS to give both Superman & Lois and TBS’ Go-Big Show a promotional boost.

On Saturday, February 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, TNT will air an encore presentation of the premiere episode of Superman & Lois, which will first air on February 23 on The CW. The series stars Tyler Hoechlin as the world’s most famous superhero, the Man of Steel a.k.a. Clark Kent, and Elizabeth Tulloch as comic books’ most famous journalist, Lois Lane. A brand-new special, Superman & Lois: Legacy of Hope, will air immediately following the encore premiere and will take fans behind the scenes with sneak peeks and interviews from the cast of the new series, plus special guests discussing the legacy of the Man of Steel.

Leading into the Saturday rebroadcast, TNT will air a Superman feature film marathon with Suicide Squad airing at 1 p.m., Man of Steel at 3:30 p.m., and Justice League at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Superman & Lois encore presentation at 9 p.m. and Superman & Lois: Legacy of Hope at 10:30 p.m.

Superman & Lois marks the seventh Arrowverse series on The CW, following Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Black Lightning and Batwoman. Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman was first introduced in Supergirl’s second season, appearing sporadically throughout the series. Meanwhile Elizabeth Tulloch’s first appearance as Lois was in the crossover event, Elseworlds, where Lois announced she was pregnant. The series was supposed to have a crossover with Batwoman later this year but plans for it have since been cancelled.

On Friday, February 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, The CW will air an encore presentation of the sixth episode of TBS’ hour-long extreme talent competition series, Go-Big Show, starring celebrity judges Snoop Dogg, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Nettles and “The American Nightmare” Cody, and hosted by popular comedian Bert Kreischer.

It seems like The CW is putting out all the stops for its newest series, but will it be enough? Superman & Lois premieres Tuesday, February 23 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW, and will re-air on Saturday, February 27 at 9 p.m. ET on TNT.
