Because they work together so frequently, the stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have formed a pretty tight-knit family. The group never hesitates to wish one of their own a happy birthday or just share some general love for one another. Of course, their close relationship also includes hilariously trash talking each other or calling one another out. The latter was the case for Paul Bettany, who was hilariously ribbed by Loki star Tom Hiddleston for being a copycat.
During the live launch event for Marvel Studios and Disney+’s WandaVision, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen and their co-stars united (virtually) to discuss the show and take questions from fans. The Q&A section also included a few surprise guests, including Tom Hiddleston, who posed a question about Loki and Bettany’s vision. Check out his hilarious Twitter query down below:
It seems Tom Hiddleston is curious as to how and why Paul Bettany’s Vision is also back in the MCU after being killed, just like Loki. You can’t argue with the actor for asking the question:
Question for Paul. Um, when we last saw Vision in Infinity War, he was no longer living, but now he’s alive. And I was just wondering, don’t you think that’s kind of a Loki thing?
Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Paul Bettany’s Vision are some of the few MCU characters who actually get to return from the dead and play major roles. Loki also met his apparent demise in Avengers: Infinity War when he was killed by Thanos. Now, the character is set to return in an upcoming solo TV series for Disney+, though this will be the 2012 iteration of the character that disappeared with the Tesseract during the events of Endgame.
Vision’s return in WandaVision, on the other hand, is a little murkier. After Thanos ripped the Mind Stone from Vision’s head in the final moments of Infinity War, many believed the android was gone for good. But he’s somehow resurfaced in the new show, which sees him and Wanda living a seemingly perfect life in a sitcom-esque suburbia.
Despite having found ways to return from the dead, Loki and Vision couldn’t be any more different. The God of Mischief is a sarcastic, calculating and anti-heroic sort of person, while Vision is kind, cerebral and reserved. Needless to say, these two characters are essentially night and day.
The chances of Loki and Vision crossing paths in the near future appear to be pretty slim. But it would be nice to see the two somehow meet up and chat about their experiences. Tom Hiddleston and Paul Bettany would likely be game, and the exchange could be one of the MCU’s best.
New episodes of WandaVision drop Fridays on Disney+, and Loki is set to premiere on the streamer in May.
