Kirk Cameron Kicks Off the Year By Sharing Photos Of His Maskless Singing Protest

Kirk Cameron

As the new year begins, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect different aspects of everyday life. This has led state officials across the country to institute safety measures to combat the virus. This still hasn’t stopped some from participating in large public gatherings, including Kirk Cameron. The Growing Pains star closed out 2020 with a caroling event, and he later held a second gathering on New Year’s Eve. Now, Cameron is starting off the new year by sharing photos from his most recent protest.

Both of Kirk Cameron’s public gatherings took place in California, with the second one specifically taking place in Malibu’s Point Mugu State Park. Cameron referred to the event as an opportunity to “pray for our country.” Images from local news outlets seemed to show a large number of attendees, but Cameron’s recent Instagram photos give us a better idea of just how many people attended the event:

Based on the images, it would appear that Kirk Cameron was joined by a sizable amount of people, something he expressed hope for in a previous social media post. In this latest post, Cameron says that he and attendees “prayed and sang songs of thankfulness.” The actor also gave a speech, which he shared to social media.

At the end of the post, Cameron also tells his followers to stay tuned for information on another gathering. As of this writing, it’s unclear as to where or when said event will take place.

California is one of the states that’s been hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic, with case numbers and COVID-related deaths currently increasing. With this, Cameron’s gatherings received significant backlash from the public. State senator Henry Stern even sent Cameron a message ahead of the New Year’s Eve gathering in an attempt to get the actor to change his plans.

Jeremy Miller, who played Cameron’s TV brother on Growing Pains, also expressed displeasure with his former co-star’s recent actions. Miller stated that he cares for Cameron but strongly disagrees with his decision to hold public gatherings in the midst of the pandemic.

Since the initial caroling event, many have taken to social media to voice their opinions on the matter, with many blasting Cameron. This led the actor’s sister, Candace Cameron Bure, to speak up against the comments being made about her brother. Cameron Bure also noted that she’s chosen to follow the state’s safety guidelines.

With two events held and one on the way, it would seem that Kirk Cameron may be planning to continue these gatherings for the foreseeable future. It remains to be seen if the state government will take any additional action against the events. Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more updates on the situation as they arrive and look out for other news from the world of TV and movies as well.
