HBO Is Already Getting Game Of Thrones Fans Hyped For The House Of The Dragon Spinoff

Bran Game of Thrones HBO

It's no secret by now that the final season of Game of Thrones left a sour taste in the mouths of many, so some may question what it will take to get audiences hyped about the spinoff. Apparently, the great minds at HBO know just what audiences want, because all it took was a simple Twitter post to pique the interest of some about the upcoming series House of the Dragon.

House of the Dragon will begin production in 2021, and as HBO showcased in its latest tweet, there be dragons. Take a look at the latest fire-breathing beast below, which got quite a few people psyched up after seeing it.

That's quite a dragon (technically wyvern), and presumably, one that fans can expect to see when House of the Dragon debuts on HBO. With that being said, this is only concept art, so it stands to reason that the final vision of this beast may be better or possibly worse than what we've seen. WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar announced principal photography for the series begins in a few months, so it may be a while before we know either way.

As the name would imply, House of the Dragon is expected to feature dragons, as well as a family known for their love of dragons. The series is based on the book called Fire & Blood, which chronicled major stories of House Targaryen. As some may remember, House Targaryen held dominion over Westeros for quite a long while, thanks in part to their ability to keep and use dragons to maintain order.

Dragons were not all Game of Thrones was about, but it's more than fair to say they drum up some interest in the fandom. They were also pretty expensive to animate for the show's budget, so it will be interesting to see how often and to what extent dragons appear in House of the Dragon. The one above is missing two additional heads, but beyond that bears a resemblance to the dragon found on the house sigil of the Targaryen family. Perhaps this dragon will appear in the intro for the series or may have a meatier role as a companion to one of the Targaryens.

Some may be confused about the news that House of the Dragon will soon start production, likely because there was news last year about a Game of Thrones spinoff in development. That was a separate pilot that HBO ultimately scrapped, with the justification being that George R.R. Martin already had the framework for House of the Dragon fleshed out. Plus, as seen above, this show has dragons, and apparently, dragons can create hype!

House of the Dragon will soon go into production at HBO. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for more on the spinoff, and for the latest news happening in television and movies.
