Last Man Standing's Final Season And Mayim Bialik's New Show Get Premiere Dates On Fox

The Fall TV season clearly hasn't looked anything like those of years past, mainly due to production delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many shows found ways to return to filming in recent months, and though there have been some snafus along the way, it has been something of a smooth run so far. Now, Fox has revealed the upcoming premiere dates for some of its big hits like Last Man Standing, as well as its most anticipated new shows, such as Mayim Bialik's Big Bang Theory follow-up, Call Me Kat.

Let's kick things off with Tim Allen and Nancy Travis' Last Man Standing, which is now heading into its ninth season, which will bring to fans its final batch of episodes. (That is, unless another network wants to step in and save Last Man Standing the way that Fox saved it after ABC's cancellation.) Fox is playing it smart here by debuting the ninth season in a prime post-NFL 8:30 p.m. ET time slot on Sunday, January 3, before it shifts back to its regular time slot on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. ET. That checks out, since the show poked some fun at the NFL in its first batch of teasers.

In a similar move, Fox is actually using Mayim Bialik's Call Me Kat as the lead-in for Last Man Standing, as it will take the immediate post-football slot at 8:00 p.m. ET. You know Fox is trying hard to promote these shows if it's choosing to boot The Simpsons back an hour in order to take over that key time slot. Note that both Call Me Kat and Last Man Standing will also be taking advantage of the schedule once Thursday Night Football is no longer airing.

Check out the full schedule below, which is being kicked off by the December premiere of The Masked Dancer, which will be welcoming Mayim Bialik as a guest judge. (Which she revealed through a wardrobe malfunction post on social media.)

Fans will also notice that two of Fox's big drama blocks also have confirmed premiere dates. The medical drama The Resident will return after its COVID-shortened season on January 12, followed by the highly anticipated return of the bonkers crime drama Prodigal Son. The next week ushers in another level of bonkers with the pairing of 9-1-1 Season 4 and 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2, with the latter dropping a West Wing reunion on star Rob Lowe, while also losing one cast member altogether.
