Rachael Ray Safe After House Fire, But Her Home Isn't

Rachael Ray on Rachael (2019)

This past Sunday, a fire erupted at the New York home of cooking show personality Rachael Ray and her husband John Cusimano. Fortunately, the couple and their dog were able to escape the fire and make it to safety. However, their home sustained damaged during the ordeal:

Rachael, her husband John and their dog Bella are safe. The house is unfortunately damaged and we don't yet know to what extent.

News of Rachael Ray and her family’s safety comes from a source close, who informed People of the details. Per the trade, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that firefighters arrived at Ray’s residence around 8 p.m.

The home, which is located on Chuckwagon Trail in Lake Luzerne, is one of two residences that Ray and Cusimano own, with the other located in Greenwich Village. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ray has been cooking from her Lake Luzerne home. She even gave fans a more detailed look at the kitchen a few months ago.

Hours before the fire erupted, Ray had shared photos of a meal she and her husband were having while out with friends. Since the incident, WNYT’s Mark Mulholland has shared photos of the actual fire. The images are available to see down below:

Today, Ray also posted a message on Twitter in which she further confirmed her family’s safety and thanked first responders for their efforts. She also thanked friends and fans for their support:

Thank you to our local first responders for being kind and gracious and saving what they could of our home. Grateful that my mom, my husband, my dog… we’re all okay. These are the days we all have to be grateful for what we have, not what we’ve lost. I did lose my phone (posting through a team member) Thank you for all the well wishes, concern and outreach, but can’t return texts and calls at the moment…!

While it seems that officials have not yet estimated the extent of the damage done to the house, it’s definitely good to hear that Rachael Ray and her loved ones are doing well. And in typical Rachael Ray fashion, she seems to be looking on the bright side of the situation.

Like many talk show hosts, Rachael Ray has been keeping busy by filming remote episodes from home. This has including a variety of live, cooking segments that are available to watch on the show’s YouTube channel.

With the ongoing global health crisis and the damage done to Rachael Ray’s home, there’s currently no telling when the show will return in some form. Nothing has been confirmed as of this writing, but one could assume that Ray will take some time off before she returns to our screens. And we certainly wish her all the best during this period of transition.
