Hulu has handed down some good news for fans of Love, Victor, which premiered back in June to revisit to world of the 2018 film Love, Simon. After the tumultuous journey to make it to the small screen that involved switching platforms before it could even debut, Love, Victor has officially been renewed for a second season, and the cast is already celebrating.

The renewal itself doesn't come as a huge shock, as Love, Victor Season 1 ranked as the top most-watched drama on Hulu during its premiere week in June 2020 and it expands the world of Love, Simon. In Season 1, Victor arrived at Creekwood High School to embark on a journey of self-discovery, including an exploration of his sexual orientation, dealing with challenges at home, and finding his place in a new city. Season 2 will continue to build on themes of acceptance and sexual identity in high school.

Love, Victor received an order for 10 episodes in Season 2, to match the 10-episode order of the first season. While Hulu hasn't announced details of when fans might be able to expect Season 2 or even when production can begin, the future is bright for Victor and his friends. Star Michael Cimino, who plays the titular Victor, and a number of his fellow cast members took to social media to share their reactions to the good news. On Instagram, Cimino said:

The best thing that has ever happened in my life. IS HAPPENING AGAIN. FOR A SECOND SEASON. I’m so proud of this amazing cast and crew. They always pushed me to be my best just by pushing themselves. I always felt the need to rise to the occasion. And I promise I will continue to do so and hopefully continue to make an impact with this show. I love you all so much. Can’t wait to see you all for season two :)

Rachel Hilson was a key part of Love, Victor Season 1 as Victor's witty friend Mia Brooks. Like Michael Cimino, Hilson went for Instagram to share her reaction to the show's renewal. Unlike Cimino, Hilson was able to compare her excitement about more Love, Victor to her excitement over a piece of produce:

While the pandemic means that Rachel Hilson had to keep her celebration to social media, there's no denying that she was excited by the renewal news. For Mason Gooding, a.k.a. basketball player Andrew, he praised what Love, Victor means to viewers in a Twitter post:

So, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: for the underrepresented, to the misrepresented, to the disenfranchised and the unseen, this show is for you. So what do you say? Ready for another go around??

Mason Gooding also explained that he "couldn't be prouder, happier, and more grateful" for each of the people who watched shows like Love, Victor with "progressive narratives that speak to so many of us." As for Bebe Wood, who plays Mia's BFF Lake Meriwether, she shared some fun pictures along with a message:

Like the rest of the cast, Isabella Ferreira was openly excited about the Love, Victor renewal on social media. The actress, who plays Victor's younger sister Pilar, also credits the show with changing her life:

you guys are incredible. this show is incredible. it’s changed my life and i’m sure many others in ways I can’t even begin to comprehend. there’s so much love here. i’m excited to see what s2 has in store!!! I LOVE YOU ALL

George Sear, whose Benji was pivotal to Victor's journey of self-discovery (and high school drama) throughout the first season, chose some pictures to go along with his message of gratitude: :

Another actor who plays a member of the Salazar family decided to share their feelings about the renewal. James Martinez, who plays Victor's blue-collar father Armando, used Instagram to praise how Love, Victor pushes the envelope:

I love it when the envelope is pushed and causes change for the better. Congrats to my beautiful Love, Victor family. Thank you to the fans, all my friends and family for tuning in and of course our brilliant lgbtq community.

The cast weren't the only people from Love, Victor who hit social media with their reactions to the great news from Hulu. Co-creators Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker, who also collaborate on NBC's This Is Us, teamed up on Twitter:

Based on Elizabeth Berger's comment about what the writers "have been cooking up," I'd say that fans of Love, Victor have a lot to be excited about! The writers cooking things up for Season 2 definitely doesn't mean that new episodes will be hitting Hulu any time too soon, but the news is encouraging.

And hey, for any potential viewers who held back from checking out Love, Victor out of fear that it would get the axe early, there is no longer any need to worry about a cancellation after just one season! You can find all ten episodes of Love, Victor Season 1 streaming on Hulu now.
