90 Day Fiance's Brittany Blasts 'Severely Undereducated' Americans Following Recent Critiques

Brittany Banks TLC 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way

Warning! The following contains spoilers for the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way episode "My Life In 7 Suitcases." Read at your own risk!

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 2 has featured a variety of Americans taking risks while traveling abroad to be with their loved ones, but few have experienced a situation quite like that of Brittany Banks. The 26-year-old Floridian hopped on a plane to Amman, Jordan, to be with her boyfriend Yazan, but it was under false pretenses that could cause some issues down the road.

Brittany expected to have a happy life with Yazan in Jordan, but explicitly hid the fact that she still hasn't gotten a divorce from her previous marriage. As well, she will not convert to Islam at Yazan's request. The decision to withhold that information, as well as her refusal to adapt to a Jordanian lifestyle while overseas, had some 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way viewers questioning whether Brittany knew what she was getting into when joining Yazan in Jordan. Brittany responded on her social media (via The Blast) and called out Americans for being the ones that aren't doing research, saying this in the since-deleted post:

Let’s talk about the loud and wrong crew. The ones who told me to do research they hadn’t done themselves. So, after traveling extensively I found out Americans are severely under-educated. We are 37th in the world for math and science, which means a lot of us aren’t doing research. We just think intelligence comes with the citizenship or we repeat what we watch on tv and assume those we watch have done the research for us. & usually they haven’t and are saying what fits their agenda. Continuously making gross general assumptions that threaten & violate people’s individual integrity. Only 42% of American have a passport far behind other modernized countries. Clearly, Americans need to travel more or see more people’s experiences traveling. Surprise I didn’t do the show for clout. I did it because some Americans need to watch @90dayfiance and get educated.

Brittany Banks' clapback came after an explosive segment on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way in which Yazan flipped out not long after she landed. Yazan became furious first when he spotted an alcohol container in Brittany's bag, and then again when she hugged the producers when she saw them. Keep in mind this was before he was even told Brittany hasn't gotten divorced and that she isn't interested in converting to Islam, so one can only imagine their situation may deteriorate even further as the situation continues.

Brittany's post wasn't to discuss all those issues, since she covered her and Yazan's problems elsewhere, but rather to call out people who had criticisms to share about her decision. In the last half of the post, Banks defended her globetrotting choices, and gave a reminder that trying something and being wrong isn't a crime. In her words:

Plus this is a time for inclusion. TLC has been ahead of the ball in having poc represented in their network. If you don’t believe out of trillions of people(I can’t believe I have to put in parenthesis that I said trillions to sarcastically exaggerate for the idiots who will point this out for virtual cookies) in the world someone like me and someone like Yazan would never hook up you clearly live in a box. Get out more try new things! We only have ONE life to live, how do you know what you like if you don’t try it! Say what you want but I go out in the field and do my research because I’m not scary I got heart.

I guess I can't fault her for that, but it seems like some people may have done a whole lot of that, considering the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star has deleted the post from her Instagram. This isn't the first time a member of 90 Day Fiancé hauled off on viewers and deleted posts, and it very likely won't be the last. Overall, I doubt there's anything too out of the ordinary happening with this deletion, and I can't see it affecting Brittany's relationship with the show in the long run. Now her relationship with Yazan on the other hand...

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way airs on TLC Mondays at 9:00 p.m. ET. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for more on the franchise, and for the latest news happening in television and movies.
