The last time we saw Academy Award nominee Adam Driver in a movie that could technically be considered a musical was as a session musician in the Coen BrothersInside Llewyn Davis from 2013. The last time we saw French Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard in a movie that was undoubtedly a musical was as the wife of a sleazy filmmaker in Nine from 2009. The talented pair are now acting alongside each other for the first time as the romantic leads of a new musical that is sure to be one of the most bizarre and visually striking 2021 movies you will see all year - if you know how, where, and when to find Annette streaming, that is. So, may we start helping to point you in the right direction?

Annette will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video

Annette Will Be Available To Stream On Amazon Prime August 20

The English-language debut of French filmmaker Leos Carax, Annette, tells the story of a successful stand-up comedian (Adam Driver) and an acclaimed opera singer (Marion Cotillard) whose marriage comes under fire not long after the birth of their unique daughter, played by Devyn McDowell in the title role. Carax co-wrote the screenplay with Ron and Russell Mael of the influential pop rock duo Sparks, who also wrote the music and lyrics and conceived the original idea for this engrossingly strange cinematic experience.

Audiences from select cities in the United States can already see Annette on the big screen for a limited time as of Friday, August, 6. However, those who are not so lucky will just need a subscription to Amazon Prime Video, on which the film will be available to stream on Friday, August 20, 2021.

Annette will not be streaming on Netflix

Will Annette Be On Netflix?

When I said that Annette, which also stars Simon Helberg of The Big Bang Theory cast as an unnamed orchestra conductor, would be available to stream at home on Amazon Prime Video as of Friday, August, 20, 2021, I should have specified it as its exclusive streaming home. Therefore, the digital platform will remain the only place you can stream the musical following that premiere date. While the idea of it being made available for Netflix subscribers is wishful thinking, I would not expect it to switch homes or even be shared by both platforms anytime soon.

If You Have Already Seen Annette In Theaters…

If you happen to be one of the lucky Americans who have caught Annette on the big screen and want to learn more before it becomes available on Amazon Prime Video, we at CinemaBlend have you covered in that regard, too. Read all about the proposed Rihanna cameo that was scrapped when the singer (known for films like Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and Ocean’s 8) dropped out of the project or the time Adam Driver took a smoke break when the film received an unexpectedly long standing ovation after premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in July 2021.

We also recommend checking out The Sparks Brothers - director Edgar Wright’s recent documentary about the film’s creators and composers, Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks. Rent The Sparks Brothers on Amazon.

With the number of exciting titles that the Star Wars movies star already has in his resume of upcoming films, could Annette be remembered as one of the best Adam Driver movies of this year (or even his entire career)? We will let you be the judge of that when the inventive musical experience hits Amazon Prime Video on Friday, August 20.
