House Of Gucci Trailer Shows Lady Gaga At Her Most Devious With Adam Driver

Earlier today, the world got its first look at Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci through sharp character posters released onto the internet. But Lady Gaga, being crafty, but to the point, displayed her look with the word “stasera,” or “tonight” in Italian. Apparently that was a hint at when we could see the first trailer for the film, which also stars Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jared Leto, and Jeremy Irons. Now have our first footage from House of Gucci to ponder over.

The film looks as flashy as you’d expect, with Lady Gaga’s portrayal of Patrizia Reggiani shifting her look to the occasion and the times. But, of course, there’s the darker undercurrent that runs through the film, as House of Gucci is the story of how Reggiani played her part in some drama involving the Gucci family. Most infamously of all, of course, was Patrizia ordering a hit out on her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver); an event we see teased in the trailer itself.

Even with that dark cloud hovering over House of Gucci, there’s still a humorous streak that runs through this decades spanning tragedy. One of the surprise confirmations of that fact comes from Jared Leto’s controversial casting as Paolo Gucci, which required aging up the actor with prosthetic makeup. Though people will still find themselves questioning and even reacting to his casting as they have recently, his performance is unquestionably fitting in a cast that also includes Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons.

Then, of course, there’s the question of whether the chemistry between House of Gucci’s leads works to the film’s advantage. Yet again, it should be no surprise that not only do Lady Gaga and Adam Driver look good together, they can certainly hold down a movie alongside each other. Showing glimpses of times good, bad and murderous, the Gaga/Driver combination already feels like it is yielding fantastic results.

House of Gucci’s first look at Ridley Scott’s upcoming crime drama doesn’t skimp on the fashion or the tragedy. Summing up scandal, infidelity, and ultimately murder as the contents of this tale, the trailer naturally does so with style and class. For now, we’ll have to wait for the really sordid stuff, as even the trailer ends on a couple notes that hint at how and why Patrizia may have been motivated to do what she did.

If the word on the street holds up, House of Gucci should land in theaters on November 24th. But if that changes, you’ll see that information reported and reflected in our 2021 release schedule. Now all we have to do is wait and see which festivals this obvious awards player will book, and then the fun can really begin.
