The Oscar nominations are in, and for some of us, it’s time to play catch-up and try to see some of those nominated films we haven’t gotten around to seeing. Fortunately, when it comes to the picks for Best Original Song, a trip to the theater isn’t required. Listen to all five nominees for Best Original Song right here.

From faith to freedom, to happiness and love — both ordinary and less ordinary — there’s quite a bit of tonal diversity among the songs that made this year’s Oscar nominations list. Will U2 snag another award for their Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom song? Or will one of the other nominees manage to freeze it out. We have time to ponder that question between now and March 2 when the 86th Annual Academy Awards take place. In the meantime, here are the five nominated songs for the 2014 Oscars:

"Alone Yet Not Alone" from Alone Yet Not Alone
Music by Bruce Broughton; Lyric by Dennis Spiegel
Alone Yet Not Alone is set in 1748 and centers on a family bound for America in an effort to escape religious persecution in Germany. As you’ll hear in the lyrics of the song, "Alone Yet Not Alone" is a message of faith as the singer acknowledges never being truly alone with the presence of God in their life.
When when my steps are lost
And desperate for a guide
I can feel His touch
A soothing presence by my side.

Alone, yet not alone
Not forsaken when on my own
I can lean upon His arm
and be lifted up from harm
If I stumble or if I’m thrown
I’m alone yet not alone
"Happy" from Despicable Me 2
Music and Lyric by Pharrell Williams
Even if you’re Despicable, it’s good to be happy! The song for Despicable Me 2 is a catchy little ditty that inspires exactly what the title promises, and may also inspire the urge to dance. At the very least, it’ll get stuck in your head.
Here come bad news talking this and that
Yeah, give me all you got, don’t hold back
Yeah, well I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine
Yeah, no offense to you don’t waste your time
Here’s why

Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do
"Let It Go" from Frozen
Music and Lyric by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez
Given the box office gross for Frozen, there’s a good chance you’ve heard this one already. On the surface, "Let it Go" is about being free to "let it go," but there’s an undercurrent of frustration and loneliness in this tune that resonates even deeper behind Idina Menzel’s powerful vocals.
It’s time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I’m free

Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You’ll never see me cry
"The Moon Song" from Her
Music by Karen O; Lyric by Karen O and Spike Jonze
There’s an almost lullaby tone to "The Moon Song," especially when hearing it sung by Scarlett Johansson, who sounds as human as humanly possible, despite the fact that her character is a computer. The lyrics strip love to its simplest core, emphasizing the safety and comfort that happens between two people in love when they’re together. Or in Joaquin Phoenix’s case, when he’s alone with his computer.
There's things I wish I knew
There's no thing I'd keep from you
It's a dark and shiny place
But with you my dear
I'm safe and we're a million miles away

"Ordinary Love" from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom
Music by Paul Hewson, Dave Evans, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen; Lyric by Paul Hewson
U2’s Ordinary Love may be the frontrunner in this race, having won the Golden Globe in the same category. U2’s Bono has described it as a "complicated little love song to Winnie and South Africa."
Your heart is on my sleeve
?Did you put it there with a magic marker
?For years I would believe
? That the world couldn't wash it away

Cause we can't fall any further
?If we can't feel ordinary love
?We cannot reach any higher
?If we can't deal with ordinary love

Which song should win the Academy Award
